I've read the first few chapters of this free book from Desiring God Ministries. It's called Don't Waste Your Life. Through the first few chapters, they echo the phrase at the beginning of my post. Here's another excerpt from Chapter 2: BreakthroughâThe Beauty of Christ, my joy, section entitled, "Are you being used?": ...no child complains "I am being used" when his father delights to make the child happy with his presence. This blew me away, because now I am a father. Do you know what never fails to surprise me every weekend when I come home on Friday night? SURPRISE 1: That even though I am not with her five days out of the week, she still recognizes me. SURPRISE 2: That for a baby, she is SO happy to see me when I walk in the apartment. SURPRISE 3: The joy that I find in the knowledge that I am capable of making her so happy by my mere entrance. QUESTION 1: If I feel this way, how much more special does the Queen feel in knowing that she alone is our baby's supreme joy in life? God is like that. Is it selfish of Him to want us to worship Him?
